Requirements for running for Public Office in Nigeria:
president
- Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen (by birth for the Executive Offices)
- Age: President & Vice President – 35 years
- Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent
- Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her
Governor
- Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen (by birth for the Executive Offices)
- Age: Governor & Deputy Governor – 35 years
- Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent
- Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her
Senate
- Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen
- Age: 35 years
- Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent.
- Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her
House of Representatives
- Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen
- Age: 25 years
- Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent.
- Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her
House of Assembly
- Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen
- Age: 25 years
- Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent.
- Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her
Chairman of Area Council
- Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen
- Age: 25 years
- Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent.
- Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her
Councillor of Area Council
- Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen
- Age: 25 years
- Education: Up to School Certificate level or its equivalent.
- Political Party: Must belong to the political party sponsoring him/her
