Ready to Run is birthed by the Not Too Young To Run movement, a movement of youth and civil society groups advocating for the reduction of age for running for elective offices to mainstream young men and women in electoral politics. Not Too Young To Run is Nigeria’s largest and most successful youth movement in recent times. The movement is driven by the compelling need to restructure the country’s political system to address the deeply entrenched system of political exclusion and institute inclusive politics, transformative leadership and electoral competitiveness in the electoral process.
Ready To Run is best described as a sequel to the Not Too Young To Run Campaign. While Not Too Young To Run aimed to reduce the constitutional minimum ages for contesting elected positions, Ready To Run is inspiring and equipping youths to take advantage of this reduction. Since the passage of the Not Too Young To Run Bill on 31 May, 2018, the Ready To Run movement is all the more important to building on this great success.
Ready To Run is not a political party and has absolutely no partisan interest. Our campaign will never endorse, transform into or affiliate with a political party and merely seeks to support young aspirants regardless of party.
As much as we welcome the support of anyone who supports youth inclusion and democratic principles, Ready To Run is working intentionally to widen the political space for youth inclusion. As such, we are only accepting registrants that are a) defined as youth according to the National Youth Policy and b) eligible to run for elected office; that is to say youth between 25 and 40 years of age

Ready To Run does not expect payment or favours at any point in exchange for its support. The movement believes that young people are the key to solving intractable governance challenges, and that greater representation of youth can transform our politics. The best way aspirants can return the favour is by campaigning hard, winning their elections and representing their constituencies with integrity and capability.
